Havasupai

I was lucky enough to get invited along for my friends birthday trip to experience Havasupai in the Grand Canyon. Permits are tough to obtain and I don't have patience to speed dial the office until I get through. Luckily for me my friends do! We embarked on a 10 day road trip and spent four days and three nights on the Havasupai Indian Reservation exploring the beautiful waterfalls in the Grand Canyon. Here are some highlights from the backpack trip.

Here's Bethanie (left)  wondering why her pack is so heavy. What IS all of that stuff hanging on the outside of her pack? Oh yeah, gear. Because she has about 200 glow sticks, 6 outfits, a pool float, and other "important" items on the inside.

10 miles one way through the massive walls of the canyon.

The super sketchy & slippery decent down to the base of Mooney Falls.

Endless pools below Mooney Falls

Water that looks like blue Gatorade 💙

A short section of the trail turns into a steep cave with chains to hold onto to lower yourself down (and up) the wall when going to the base of Mooney Falls.

Havasu means "blue-green water" and "pai" means, "people." The Havasupai tribe has been living in the Grand Canyon for more than 800 years.
